fearful predictions - tv edition

the term 'fearful' applies because the prediction game can lead to some predictions don't pan out [although the market has realized one overcompensated person can't overcome business model failings]. nevertheless, some are too easy, too fun, too irresistible.

after the tv networks released their schedules last week, I felt compelled to chip in a few comments and observations

- cbs stays with its strong hand: few new shows or schedule tweaks. although the sunday line-up could take a hit from those shows numbers this year (but still consistently better than the cbs movie)

- abc is in trouble: given its poor track record last season (1 outta 7 new shows made it), the 10 new shows appears...ambitious. dancing with the stars large (but older) audience should have led into lost and grey's anatomy. replacing monday night football with a estrogen-friendly line-up cements abc's 'chick network' status

- nbc sinks further: at least they get football on sunday night... two shows about an increasingly unfunny SNL is not a good idea. some nights the peacock will be lucky to get outta 3rd place.

- fox bides its time until american idol and 24 come back in january. in the meantime, depending on the world series match-up, fall could be ugly.

- the cw: two networks become one and still schedule a re-run. happily, everybody hates chris gets outta tough time slot. some nights can be particularly strong given some of the problems of other networks.
